HIDDEN HILLS, Calif. -- It has all the trappings of a chatty viewing party for The Hills, but with an after-school-special twist.

In Sam Weidman's living room, the 17-year-old high school senior and about 20 of his friends have gathered to nosh pizza, drink pop and whisper about what's happening on -- and off -- his flat-screen TV.
